  • Lenth of my cue

    Hi all,

Just a quick one. My cue is very short. It's at the height of my armpits, thus forcing me to use a short bridge. I know it all boiles down to stroke, but just want to check if that length is wayyyyy toooo short or abnormal?

    Thanks man.

If you feel comfortabke with it, that's all that counts. If you feel that it's too short, then you already know the answer!

Ok, I started out with this cue because my cue was stolen. This cue was given free and I felt it was way too short initially, but had no other choice because it was the only cue available. I must have gotten used to the short length. Now, whenever i use a standard length cue or even a 56", it feels too long and my cue action gets affected. I get more power with less effort naturally, which i might lack in my game.

I know it`s the comfort level, but i`m just curious, generally, is playing with a cue at this ratio something like playing with a 20mm tip? is this a totally absurd length that might be of hinderence to any further progress in my game?

      Thanks for your answers

I think that if you can play well with this cue, then that's all that counts. There is no right or wrong cue or cue spec; there is just what suits you and what you play well with! If I remember correctly, Mike Wooldridge said that the best cue he ever had was 54" long and he could pot anything with that cue, and I don't think that 54" is the "correct" spec for Mike, according to traditional wisdom. If it suits you, and apparently it does, don't change!! And don't think about it too much either, you'll only give yourself something to worry about!

well i play pool with a cue that is approx 40" and just over 10 Oz, so your cue spec doesn't sound abnormal to me

You could play pool with a pencil the tables are so small.
