Players , coaches, etc have different views on technical issues.
    My argument is uncomplicated.
In most cases there is no doubt that when we miss we have done something wrong.
There are multiple reasons for why we miss. The main ones are
Not being absolutely clear on the whole shot before you get down to play it.
Not striking the cue ball on the vertical centre line.
    Body and head movement.
    Plus others.
Ultimately all reasons why we miss are transferred to the white ball who’s job is to arrive at the correct place.
Perhaps obstacle was the wrong word to choose. But I was trying to suggest that if you ( pretend play ) your pots for a few minutes without the white you will realise how much it gets in the way or affects your cue action when it is there. Without the white there your action will be smooth and you won’t move. I know the white has to be there in normal play but doing this WILL let YOU as a player know how the shot should feel if played correctly.
    You said trust your eyes.
    Absolutely 100%
As long as you are 100% sure of the whole shot.
The eyes and brain know exactly what to do because they see everything geometrically in straight lines.
As long as you don’t confuse them they will get you to table on the right line for plain ball shots.
what happens then is down to your own personal ability.
The only 2 inches that matter in snooker and control your entire game are between when the tip contacts the white and leaves the white.
    THATS IT.
The whole game revolves around 2 inches. 😉
