When to grip like this?

I've never seen that before, good spot. I would suggest never grip like that but that's one of the best players ever and Stephen Hendry doing it, so what do I know.This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

I have seen some other players used this grip as well, when their bridge hands needed to reach far forward...maybe then the back hand was too close or touching to the body?
Dennis Taylor said he used this grip at the last black against Steve Davis, 1985. (That should be the most important shot in his life!)
