  • Does change of body type cause issues

I've had back trouble recent. That combined with working from home and covid, well, unfortunately I put on a few pounds. Snooker had been improving following injury lay off - 30s went to 40s and a 76 and 56 recently.

    Then...

I invested in some weights and have given that some serious effort. A lot of lifting and also 30 mins or so per day on the treadmill. Shifted 1.5 inch off the stomach and waist and an inch off the chest. Back is so much better for it too although muscle growth has meant weight loss hasn't been huge. All good right? If only!

My snooker has really suffered. Stance all over. Cueing all over. Can't get the cue on the right line for the life of me. (I used sightright and it had really helped over a period or time) Seems as though my sighting has altered completely. Has anyone experienced similar? Obviously I know fitness helped Ronnie and now Higgins but the total drop in form and confidence is really killing me!

I would imagine your chest getting smaller(if you run the cue along it) would definitely knock things out of alignment. If you are placing your bridge hand in the same spot on the table then your cue along you chest but your chest is now in a different place as it's smaller, I could easily see that causing an issue.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Losing weight can only be a good thing, getting fatter may bring issues regarding moobs and transition from male to female can also bring issues with boobs, otherwise you hit what you're looking at so keep that in mind.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

Keep the weight off but don’t get ripped like one of those steroid body builder types .Ronnie keeps fit with running ,John Higgins cycling ,I use a rowing machine

I do enjoy cardio and running but doing that alone would wear me down too much. Surely some extra muscle definition should help with those stun shots!

Will definitely get back to basics and try to find that line to get the cue back on to. Just so frustrating after feeling I had a lovely rhythm going!
