I used to focus on the cueball when I was 15/16 but I think that may have been because I had poor eyesight and wore glasses, anything past the cueball would go a bit fuzzy. It was mental really, used to make century breaks as a teen and the object balls&pockets were fuzzy!
I played a lot at university and had some coaching and was told to go with object ball sighting which took some getting used to but that's my method now. If i'm honest I actually think either way is absolutely fine, there's some merit to picking your line then focussing only on the cueball to help with centre ball or authorative striking and I can see that CB sighting could help people who have a habit of correcting their line of aim mid stroke.

You get scopes now that are digital screens provide excellent night vision and have ballistic calculators along side built in range finders, they work out hold over and under and windage and adjust the cross hairs for you, it's incredible. I used to have mine written down or on stickers on the turrets. Technology today is mind blowing.
It's amazing the technology that goes into killing people as opposed to bringing people out of poverty.

Yeah but what have the CB watchers ever won?
Ronnie is a nutter, Higgins is a cheat, Hendry didn't know where he was looking and spent half his life looking at the pocket, Kyren is a robot, Williams is Welsh, nuff said.

Only joking, do what makes you happy.

First time I have seen this suggestion. Sounds feasible. For me it is somewhere in between.

But I am always reminded of a video that saw a few years ago where a coach had a group of juniors in line and each would play the shot and the next in line would play the same shot... continually rotating through all players. The white was at the center pocket with pink on spot... a simple straight pot into top corner pocket. But just before each junior played the shot (once aim had been taken) the coach blocked his view with a piece of cardboard.

None of those kids missed the shot... and they are not looking at either cue ball or object ball because all they can see is cardboard.

That's because it's all about cueing and staying still. That's why you can easily pot balls with your eyes shut, it's just about delivering that cue straight which ever way you can achieve it.
