what do you guys do when your opponent is on the table? i find that even when i'm off the table i still concentrate too much on what happens on the table which kind of makes me more eager and rush back to the table and throws my rhythm off

Order another beer usually. Look at the lovely bubbles rising like stars to the top of the glass, I sip until I realise I have to play a shot again myself, then try to emulate the bubbles in my glass and rise to the top like a star ⭐

I'm normally reffing for them, not sitting down.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Usually reffing the opponent at the table.
Stuart Pettman wrote in his book (As Sometimes Seen on TV) that in his club at his table that he had mocked up with TV lights and all; he would "practise" sitting off the table as if his imaginary opponent were making a break, I assume to practise the concentration levels he was after. Maybe it worked too well, as Stuart had to sit off table a lot

Like most have said majority of the time you're reffing your opponent but in a recent final with a referee officiating I sat down, leant back and closed my eyes until the break was over.
