can someone give me some advice on hitting the cue ball? feels like on medium or power shots, i can strike the ball quite solid, but on dinky little shots, it feels like i have problems hitting the ball firmly, and often i lose the cue ball

Decels are a killer on those shots. You still need to get through the cue ball no matter what the pace or distance. Anything like a poke or a slight jab and it's curtains mate, because you push the cue ball offline with slight unwanted side etc etc.
Just remember on the dinky shots you still need some follow through on the strike, stroke it don't poke it. 😉⚪ 🔴🟡🟢🟤🔵💗⚫🕳️😎

You could learn a stun run, this let's you play a more positive stroke than trying to dribble it. Also a slight drag can be played this takes a bit of practice, well both shots do but it allows a more positive stroke then the backspin wears off and the cue ball releases.Last edited by itsnoteasy; 26 June 2023, 06:34 PM.This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Hey guys,
My coach is trying to get me used to shooting like Kyren Wilson.
Slow start and it's getting faster.
But my problem is if I watch the shoot speed miss the shoot or too slow.
I've been playing for 3 years, it's hard to get used to it.
I would ask the coaches, in such cases a heavier, thicker cue will not help?
When thinking the shoots and I not feel the cue weight.
I use 18 oz weight cue.

Something that's helped me alongside the shorter bridge mentioned above is a shorter backswing. That way I can hit more positively but without generating as much power. I remember seeing a video of someone stating that they play each shot the same speed, but vary the length of the backswing to vary the power.
