Why it is different after dishwashing? Is there a transparent layer on the surface of the balls?
I can't answer that, but I do feel this extensive regime of hot washing has deteriorated the balls exterior. Maybe aramith ball restorer could help improve them but again I don't have experience of trying this myself. Sorry.

        It's not polish is it?

Yes, all the balls lose weight, just like a blackhole!
Cue ball drops the most, due to the friction of the tip and chalk and hit the most. For a ten hours playing everyday, the cue ball can drop 1g per year. So it should be replaced to a new one for every one to two years.
The colors may drop 1g per 5 years.

The pink ball in the picture, goes to the cleaner everyday, with some kind of polshing fluid, but turns to that "old surface" after 10 hour played, as in the picture. It has been using for 12 years, and the weight now is about 139g, while it was 141g when new.

Do you yourself play ten hours everyday Taipafan? I guess you've had good value out of that set anyway.

I mean each table in the club has 10 hours business everyday on average. I usually play 3~5 hours daily.

Don't use that as it's abrasive and the kicks issue will ramp up dramatically if you do.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair
