  • relation between cue throw, stun throw affect & helping side

    hi

i recently watched this , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IK20T2Bdu0 . by snooker coach brando.
he says: Stun induces throw. The bigger the cut angle or the slower pace of a stun creates more significant throw.
i just quite did not understand him very well, as he has uploaded few more videos on same topic and made me more confused.
    --------------------
i know , Pros usually using helping side but not sure why?

so is this the throw that is forcing pros using helping side ?
    ---------------------

so what is causing a throw? ( it happens only with stuns? because the cueball pushes down on the cloth /fabric and might get a different result when played against the cloth nap )
does it happen only on angle shots? and close shots . or a long and straight shots too ?

difference between stun throw and cue throw ?
    CUE THROWS:
i know a cue throws too ( but not sure if it has to do something with the stun throw affect that causes players to use helping side ) NOT SURE if a cue throws and a helping side can help
correct me about the cue throws too please ( the solid the cue the more throws you get ? and the bigger the ferrule size is the thicker you miss and the thinner the ferrule size is , you miss thin

What's happening here is called 'SQUEEZE' by us snooker players

Balls will push against each other if they cannot bounce immediately off into a space, if they're touching other balls then squeeze will happen because the fact that an object ball is touching another ball means a prolonged contact has to happen with the cue ball because both the cue ball and object ball cannot bounce immediately away into empty space and balls will always miss thick on a prolonged contact. The more balls that are touching then the greater the squeeze, which is really that the balls are pushing against each other because they cannot bounce immediately away into empty space and a thicker angle can be created.

This is why push shots are outlawed in snooker and english billiards because if the cue ball is touching the object ball then different angles can be created by pushing the balls with the tip of the cue before the cue ball breaks contact.

Squeeze happens every time you break off, if you place a single red in the exact place on the table where the end red is when racked in the triangle and play your normal break shot off of it then the path of the cue ball will be different because the red will bounce into empty space because it isn't resting against another four reds and the contact with the cue ball isn't prolonged so the cue ball will break away from contact with the red immediately. This is also true if the red is resting against just two reds or three reds, the path of the cue ball will alter as will the path of the end red which is why you can play plants that aren't lkined up exactly by deliberately squeezing them.

A coach who doesn't understand squeeze cannot be considered a coach, stay away from these people and stop looking for other reasons why you're missing balls.

Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

just had to learn why balls throw, it has nothing to do with missing shots . i am still practicing , still hungry . yet to prove.
lets see if dropping elbow fixes the problems.

      thank you

Don't you mean NOT dropping the elbow ? and by that I mean not using the upper arm at all, watch Ding.

If you go down that hole you'll find yourself compensating your aiming for umpteen reasons and you'll never get away from it. You hit what you're looking at in this game and basic centre cue ball striking doesn't need any compensating for. These US pool coaches have no idea about basic principals of cueing straight, there's always some other reason why players miss, and always something to sell you to put it right except that it doesn't.
