  • Chin protection

    Hi all!

Just wondering if anyone has tried using their chin to help guide the cue? I do on most shots and after a while my chin becomes very sore. I use a plaster on my chin now, especially if I practice solo for hours. Even with a plaster my chin gets quite sore and I end up tensing it on delivery of the cue. I just wondered if there was an alternative to this method of keeping the cue parallel? I can't see any other way to keep the cue down on follow through.

    Thanks!

Yeah, it's a worry. I learned to shave the night before a match because when clean shaven the cue grabs my chin. I see some others using a small bandaid to avoid that drag.

Great to hear I'm not the only one using chin protection

I don't have a beard or stubble so I don't have that problem but I make sure the chin is shaved for adhesive purposes

Graeme Dott used to have a plaster on his chin. Not seen him use one recently so maybe his skin has toughened up a bit.

I have seen him and others unshaved in that area. One workaround is to shave but leave some stubble under the chin.
