  • Long distance screw back shots

    Hi all,

I find it almost impossible to get any screw back with long pots in the way that Ronnie, Trump etc can drill in a long red and screw the white back to baulk.

Ovshorter distances it’s ok. But as the distance between white and object ball increases i just can’t get anything more than a bit of stun. I also start missing the pots which is pointless.

What is the best way to practice this and improve it?

Pro table conditions are very different from ours, and they are far better than us but occasionally we can hit one sweet and get a clean contact. Best practise is not to try to hit the cue ball too hard, lower the bridge hand almost flat to the cloth and keep the head still to enable a low strike, don't be afraid to miscue as miscues are nearly always the result of body movement on the strike and not striking too low.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair
