  • Barrier..

Sorry for all the questions guys, just wanting to clear up all my problems!

Improved recently, making 30-40 breaks often. But I cant break into the 50s and above, and i desperately wana make a 50, and a century, eventually lol. Im putting in 4 hours a day atm, 5 days a week. with this practice, is it possible or is there so far you can go with natural talent?

Always believe in yourself Boxy! You can make it.

Start trying to improve the way you practice if you feel you are hitting a "barrier". With the amount of time you are dedicating to snooker you should be on a steady improvement.

Have you had any coaching? There is a thread on here debating willie thorns claims that he can turn anyone into a 50 break player.

I think the most important thing is you believe that you can do it. You see so many people miss easy shots when they approach a landmark. Try to think of it as just another number, after all what makes 50 any more special than 51 or 49 really?

It will happen. I was on 49 for 3 years before I hit my 1st 50+ break and once i did i had 7 more within a week. I believe it is a mental barrier but keep plugging away and your time will come.
Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

if you are counting your own break you are aware when you are comeing up to the 50 mark.....if you have someone else count your break, and focus your concentration only on you play then you should get above 50. Once you do it is nothing to do again

Wait while you get to 98 that one really does do your head in.

              LOL! Good one 1lawyer!

I know it is tough but if you think about being desperate to make a 50 then your concentration will not be on the game, so try not to think about it. Just remember all that you have been taught and learn from your mistakes. This is a bit of general advice as I can't see your break building techniques to see if you're going wrong.

The Welsh Open is on this week, have a look at the pros and how they break build.
