I'm lucky to live very close to Del and he and his family have become good friends of mine. He's one of the nicest blokes that I have ever met. A real gentle giant.
The Snooker Farm is a fantastic place and in my opinion there is no better coach than Del.
Unlike other coaches, Del wont want to see you week in week out. He gives you 'the knowledge' and tells you to go away and practice it for a few months before seeing him again (if you actually need to see him again).
When you first enter the Snooker Room you are in awe at all the photos and memorabilia that he has picked up over the years. There's photos of him with just about every single pro and loads of celebrity friends such as Prince Naseem etc.
The table is top class but be warned - it's tight! He had it made tight in the days when he coached Ronnie. That's another thing - I doubt if there is another table in the world that has had so many pro's and top amateurs play on it!
Attached to the snooker room is a 5 star accommodation suite for those who want to stay over. He's currently building a Jacuzzi Room and has just about finished a fantastic patio area for relaxing in and BBQ's etc.
He plans to convert some farm buildings into more accommodation which will house another 4 tables. There will also be a Gym, Pool Table and Table Tennis.
If you are into fishing, he has a huge lake where you can relax after a snooker session.
Although Del is £40 per hour, his son, Tommy, has qualified as a 'Del Hill Snooker Coach'. Tommy will be the new Del in the future!
From an early age he has sat and watched his dad coach all the top players and has the same 'knowledge' as Del.
I think he charges around £20 per hour.
I can't comment on the Snooker Academy because I have never been there although it doe's sound like a great place too.
I would recommend that you read his Visitors Book on his website to see what others think.
