I'm lucky to live very close to Del and he and his family have become good friends of mine. He's one of the nicest blokes that I have ever met. A real gentle giant.
The Snooker Farm is a fantastic place and in my opinion there is no better coach than Del.
Unlike other coaches, Del wont want to see you week in week out. He gives you 'the knowledge' and tells you to go away and practice it for a few months before seeing him again (if you actually need to see him again).
When you first enter the Snooker Room you are in awe at all the photos and memorabilia that he has picked up over the years. There's photos of him with just about every single pro and loads of celebrity friends such as Prince Naseem etc.
The table is top class but be warned - it's tight! He had it made tight in the days when he coached Ronnie. That's another thing - I doubt if there is another table in the world that has had so many pro's and top amateurs play on it!
Attached to the snooker room is a 5 star accommodation suite for those who want to stay over. He's currently building a Jacuzzi Room and has just about finished a fantastic patio area for relaxing in and BBQ's etc.
He plans to convert some farm buildings into more accommodation which will house another 4 tables. There will also be a Gym, Pool Table and Table Tennis.
If you are into fishing, he has a huge lake where you can relax after a snooker session.
Although Del is £40 per hour, his son, Tommy, has qualified as a 'Del Hill Snooker Coach'. Tommy will be the new Del in the future!
From an early age he has sat and watched his dad coach all the top players and has the same 'knowledge' as Del.
I think he charges around £20 per hour.
I can't comment on the Snooker Academy because I have never been there although it doe's sound like a great place too.
I would recommend that you read his Visitors Book on his website to see what others think.

You cannot improve your game if you don't have a cue and snooker table

Very true. Don't forget, though, one advantage that a cue has over a coach: when you miss that straight black from a foot away, you won't look as daft when you exclaim in disgust "This damned cue!" with an accusing glare, as if you try that oft-used line "That damned coach!". It also takes more goes to snap the coach in half.

I assume you mean "no mistake"? Good luck at the farm! Let us know how you get on. It sounds great. I'd also like to know others' experiences.

            Hi Vucko117

I am one of Del's coaches, I have only good things to say about the Snooker Farm. Del's fantastic and his coaching methods are amazing. I must admit I have never been to the acadamy but from what I here the Snooker Farm is far more personal. When you are there you are Del's guest and you are treated as such. His family are extremely welcoming, Max and the boys are great people and you are made to feel like one of the family.

Since visiting Del I have a number of people that I coach, thanks to Del I have much more confidence in my coaching methods.

So incase you were in any doubt as to whether to go, I hope this helps I can't recommend it highly enough.

            Good luck.

The nearest city is Lincoln which is over an hours drive away. Just up the road from The Snooker Farm is the seaside resort of Skegness and in the opposite direction is the market town of Boston.

Never heard of him, but then I'm probably the only one on here who hasn't!
I only know 3 coaches: Del & Tommy Hill and Brian Cox.

No, unfortunately Del was in Sheffield and I couldn't move my dates. So I went to Milton Keynes and I had coaching week with Nic Barrow. I must say that I was amazed with everything. He is great coach, great person. And I will visit him again in July. Great experience.

6 days were 1320 GBP with accommodation and 8 hours of practice per day. Worth every penny.

Del does coach at the academy also does he not?

Nick Barrow sounds a bit expensive, could have half an afternoon with Terry Griff for that....
