Is there a tip to improve concentration??? Its something you have to do, if you enjoy the game it is not difficult imo. Maybe try lots of short practice sessions say an hour a day if you find it hard to maintain concentration for a long period of time.sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!

Unfortunately this is something that I myself struggle with. It cant, in my opinion, be taught as such but try to clear your mind before the break off and if your picking balls out of the pocket try just looking at a colour say the brown and dont take your eyes off it. (Dont forget to put the balls back on their spots) Dont get angry/annoyed but think in your mind "Wait til you miss and im gonna punish you" then when its your turn just concentrate on every pot 100% and take nothing for granted.
In practice as my good friend RGC mentions dont "Long it out" and keep to short spells. If you have 3 hours to spare dont do 3 hours solid practice. Practice maybe the lineup for 45 minutes, have a 15 minute break then practice clearing the colours/rest play for 15 mins and whatever routine you do but keep to small bursts.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Regarding your previous post roy, what are the effects of continuous long practice sessions? I often practice solid in 3+ hour periods, 3 or 4 times a week. I still enjoy the game to a high level, but would be interested in the benefits of shorter sessions.

I would say it depends who you are. Some people find it difficult to concentrate fully for long periods of time. Your brain will actually function better if you take a 15 minute break every 45 minutes as Roy suggests. This is commonly suggested to students whilst studying. Personally though i prefer long practice sessions without a break (except for my obligatory bacon sandwhich break of course )sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!

Anything to forget about the game for 15 mins or so. Then when you go back you can resume your routines with a clear head. Give it a go and see if you become more consistent.
The same goes for a match. If your playing say 5 frames after each frame go to the toilet and even that 2/3 minute break may benefit your game. You might find that it doesnt but if you dont try youll never know.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

No they dont owe you money, but as your bar tab is now 7.50 or something you can play for another hour and a half without paying anything extra. You pay for food as drink as you go along and then settle up at the end.
Basically table time = (£3 * number of hours) - money spent on food and drink
stay for 2 hours, that 6 pound table time, have 2 bacon sandwhiches = 3 pound and you pay 3 pound for the table when you leave. But if you have 4 bacon sandwhiches you pay nothing for the table, and 6 pound for the food.
Oh and Roy, no they do not pay you money if you spend more at the bar unfortunately
Edit: Right so i confused Roy so i will attempt to explain...
Our club wasnt getting anyone through the door so about 2 years ago they made table time free if there were 2 or more of you. The idea being you would spend enough at the bar with 2 of you to cover costs.
Unfortunately this led to people taking advantage, staying for hours and not buying anything. So now it has changed to be a free table providing you spend the equivalent of your table time on food and drink. So if you spend 18 pounds at the bar, and stay for 6 hours (3 pound an hour), they charge you nothing for the table. But if you only spend 5 pounds you will haev to pay 13 pounds for the table.
So now every week we have bacon and egg sandhiches and many cups of teaLast edited by RGCirencester; 14 March 2009, 01:47 AM.sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!
