The spray is good I had some a couple of years ago. It’s made by powerglide, you don't see it so much anymore.
What I do now is follow the instructions on the parris website. Which is really a good clean and some raw linseed oil. The cue doctor on the Lancashire BBC site has some good tips too.
If your cue is varnished take it off and then seal the wood with linseed oil, bees wax or something and it should be ok. But best to take it to a cue doctor.
Generally petrol and matches is the best thing for lacquered cues though!
