Like i say if i do ever cannon into other balls which is VERY rare i just leave them where they are, if they've only moved a couple of inches or so. This is what i do anyway, but there maybe others out there who do it differently.

If you have to canon into another ball leave it where it lands imo. You cant move the balls in a frame. Personally I cannon into a few balls quite often but maybe spikes postitional polay is better than mine
In a real game you have to judge canons off balls so why should it be different in the lineup? Just my opinion

Well it would seem every ball on the table is a bad ball when I play! I swear the balls have special spikes which only come out of the ball when I play my shots. These spikes dig into the cushions and claw it out, as If I ever try and pot a ball of the cushion of the pocket from any form of tightish angle, it just sits in the pocket for the opposition to knock in .

              the Line-up

I always thought that the line-up drill , was to aid in tightening up your positional play , helps with short range stun shots and screw shots . the purpose I think is to stay within a 12 to 15 inch distance of your next shot , and keep the cue-ball off the rail , your almost shortening the width of the table ( from 6ft. to 4 feet ) and your postion should remain in that coridor all the way through the clearance . it does have valve for practice , but I think there are other ways to improve that have quicker and more practial results.....later Joe

I think line-up is a great routine, it is probably the most well known practice routine for snooker, and possibly the most popular.

Place two reds between top cushion and black, six reds between black and pink, seven reds between pink and blue.
All the reds should be in a straight line up the middle of the table.
Pot reds and blacks as if in a normal frame.
You can also opt to use NO CUSHIONS.
Or you can play the REDS IN SEQUENCE.
Or you can play only with BLACKS, OR ONLY PINKS, OR ONLY BLUES.

I actually think the line-up is more about potting than position. More often than not you are playing for a choice of reds... if you over-run guess what they're is another red there waiting... well early on anyway.

One routine I was trying last night is to just have the pink on its spot. Then place 3 reds in a diagonal line in front of the two middle and corner pockets. Then a red on the blue and black spots. The aim is to always get back on the pink. It forces you to be so much more precise with your positional play... really fine tunes what you are doing.

Is this really you Mr Barrow if you great to have you on here. Your lineup is the traditional one (One I made 78 doing last night) but my good friend Noel informed me of one Selby uses which is 5 between pink and black, 4 either side of the pink and 2 between pink and blue.

Hi Roy... here is a vid of Selby practicing it...
oddly, the line-up starts at 1:51 then continues to end then sigh] finishes from beginning of vid!
                              LOL.
                              However, well worth watching!

In this one he uses 5 per side and 5 between black and pink.

Cheers on 78 last night mate!

I haven't used it for a while, but I remember when I did it was always enjoyable and rewarding. Although I did have a problem - always left the ones on the yellow side to last for some reason.
