Go see an eye specialist! This sounds like an eye problem, if everyone says you're on line and cueing straight but you feel you're off-line when you get down and you have to compensate and cue across the white then I think it's your eyes. If it is the same thing as me then it's really easy to fix. If it isn't then an eye specialist should be able to help you anyway. What is amazing is the way the eye(s) compensate so you don't realise there's a problem and the only way to find out is to do tests that only a specialist can do.

        Just found this,

Test - Do you have convergence insufficiency?
For this test, prepare a small rectangular card with a dark yet fine vertical line along its breadth.

You should not be wearing glasses for this test.

        The Test Procedures

        (1) Hold the card in your hand, with the arm extended.

        (2) Keep looking at the vertical line with both the eyes.

        (3) Slowly bring the card towards your eyes; stop when the card is six inches from your eyes.

        (4) Does the line appear single or double?

A person with good convergence power sees a single line even when the card is held as close as six inches from the eyes.

If the line appears double as the card approaches the inner limit of six inches, your convergence is insufficient. This means that both your eyes are not pointing towards the line.

The greater the insufficiency of convergence, the greater will be the distance of the card from the eyes when the line starts appearing double.

I've done the test and now for the first time in two years I have hope!
        That's my problem!

My daughter just got home from school:

I asked to check if I can cross me eyes, I think she's still laughing about me trying to.

No I can't, they go a little towards my nose but downwards and then vibrate like crazy?

Like I said she is still laughing

            Good how to exercise them?

            Any ideas?

Go see an optometrist; they'll help you and give you exercises to do. You can't do all the exercises at home as you need prisms etc, but they have all that. If it's like in France then you'll go twice a week, for a 15 min session, for 4-8 weeks and you should be sorted!

              Hope springs eternal.

                    Well everybody,

Still haven't been to the Doctor about my eyes.

I've just been doing eye exercises i found on the internet! I'm still meaning to go though.

Anyway it seems to be helping, I've had umpteen 30/40 breaks in practice matches over the last fortnight and topped it of on tuesday with a 59 (Black into top left pocket, split the last four reds only to stick to them again:). So the exercises seem to be doing their bit!

I seem to be able to focus on the objectball much better

I'll write some more after I've been to the doc's.

                      Strickimicki... that's good news!

Since I suffer from an "attached eye" (see below),
I bet I could use some of that stuff... what exercises mate?

                      =o)

Great news, mate! If you feel better and more comfortable with just the exercises from the 'net, then once you've seen an eye specialist and got a real expert opinion and a solution for your difficulty then I'm sure things'll be even better.

Go see a doc really soon, you won't regret it! I don't!

                          Good luck.

Ok, I've taken the last step,

                            I've got an appointment! 27.05.09!

I've no idea why I can't get an earlier appointment! But I waited so long now the last 2 months, won't kill me!

I'll let you all know how much is missing (from perfect vision)after the ceckup!

I'm still not sure how to explain the problem to the Doc!

                            But I'll think of something!

                              OMG thats it!!!

                              Thanks Kieth!!

I have done the dominate eye test before (forgot which one is the dominate), and I can go cross eyed by staring at the tip of my nose.

                              But I should've put the 2+2 together.

As I've mentioned before in one of my threads... Ahem.... I play better when using a mobile.

I think I know the reason now, and the reason why I play worse without it.

Firstly, when I play normaly i usualy cue in the center of my chin (specialy in match where I play my worse), with head usualy looking forward directly centered using both eyes.
Which at best of times I struggle to focus nowadays in that position. Its like a battle trying to figure am I aiming right, I can feel my eyes battling away (literaly) to make either focuse better. I play the shot thinking i'm aiming right eventualy, then miss, even though its so straight forward and near the pocket.

Now mobbly time. I am left handed, so when i use the phone(I know naughty naughty) I rest the phone between my right ear and right shoulder (bridge side for me) so my head is tilted to the right looking down the line of shot.
This effectivly forces me to cue under and use my left eye prominatley, in my usual stance.
When doing this I pot alot more effortlessly, and easily.

When I get off then go back to normal it goes pear shaped again, so now I realise my left eye is my playing eye Wooo Hooooo!

Only trouble now is trying to train my body and head to nautraly get down on the shot as if I'm using my mobbly, but its hard cause I'm so used to centering everything naturaly, but is bad for my game.
Maybe I should strap a brick to my right ear everytime I play now till my muscles get used to that position instincivly

Thanks all specialy Kieth for directing me here.

I hope soon I will be my old self again and play like how I used to play!!

Specialy with my TW nearing to me now

Id hate to play you Nam if your head was tilted to such an extent! But give it a go mate if it improves your game then to hell with what anyone thinks.
