A lot of coaches have set opinions on the correct way to stand, and bridge your hand, but I really believe that so long as you are solid, then that is fine.
When it comes to sighting, I think it's gospel that you 1) find out which is your dominant eye and 2) experiment with placing your cue under that eye and see if it makes a difference to potting balls.
Just because you may have a dominant eye doesn't mean it's going to help by cueing under that eye. I'm just saying give it a go.
