    1. How do you determine which is your dominant eye?
    2. How do you find the correct line of aim?
    3. How do you take aim?
    4. Is there anything else I need to know about aiming and sighting?

If you want to talk more about snooker add my MSN: Daniel_Westhead@hotmail.co.uk

Many thanks to all The Snooker Forum users from Daniel Westhead.

    Daniel,

Did you take some of the advice that was offered to you on one of your previous posts?
Look on youtube at some of the coaching videos that are on their, or even look to paying for a coach to help you. Also there are plenty of threads on this forum that you can look at to give you some answers to your questions by using the search function.

      ?

I have watched ALL the videos on Youtube and find it very difficult to learn from them. I am trying to coach myself and have been doing this for quite a while now. I also want to become a professional snooker coach when I am older.

Really I just need to know how to simplify my snooker game because I went through a time when I was working on the technical side of the sport rather obsessively. I then had to give the sport up for 8 months - 10 months. This is why I am asking so many questions about different things.

I think you might sort of understand what I mean.

      Anyway thanks for your reply.

Did you know TSF are organising an event "THE BIG WEEKEND" on the 26th September? Professional coach Nic Barrow will be their providing coaching for tsf members. If you can afford to go it wouldn't do you any harm and i'm sure Nic can give you some useful advice in wanting to be a coach..

You REALLY need to go to a good coach and get some help. Believe me, at your stage of the snooker learning curve you must get help from a coach. Forums are a wonderful thing and you can learn from them but in your case you can't learn the game from forums alone.

You could buy The Snooker Gym DVD series. I think these are the best coaching DVDs available.

Other than what were suggested, I want to add that you need to put in a lot of time at the table to train your eyes to see the angles. No matter what theory you use, you cannot really see the line of aim unless you have put in lots of hours.

The Steve Davis videos on youtubes are rather simple and easy to understand I think. He talks about looking at the blue ball to see full ball, half ball, and so on. Have you tried that?

You need to practice these angles for many hours until you can spot them right away on the table. There is no short cut that would give you super potting overnigth.

If you can find a coach and afford it, it is much better for you in the long run than trying to figure things out on your own. I am not saying you need to copy everything that you are told, but you can at least get started on the right foot, without wasting your time on doing something that may not work as well.
