  • Billiards - Potting Method

    Language: English (change)

    Hi,

Have you ever heard the old saying, the trick Billiards is that there is no trick? Well, I think that might be incorrect.

There is a definite reason why we spend hours and hours playing, some making the next level; some not. This happens even with the same practice time and a very good technique between the two comparisons above. Why? Well my theory is that there are somethings never noticed by the one that doesn't make it. In the back of the mind of the person that succeeds they know by feel what it is but cannot put it into words. My theory employs a method that the top feel players use; not actually sighting a point on the object ball. It removes any optical illusions that are caused by contacting two spherical shapes. It also works to the millimetre for any angle between 0 and 90. One method, every shot. No visualisation of contact points, imaginary balls or anything else that requires abstract estimation.

Of course, I can prove everything I state here mathematically. (and not that Internet, really doesn't help anything kinda maths that gets around on here)

Hours and hours of practice increases your chances of noticing what is happening but does not guarantee it. My method guarantees that, not only will you know the required techniques on a subconscious (feel) level but also on a conscious level where you are free to diagnose your shot before you even take it. It is a single method where actually sighting a particular place to strike the object ball is more a hindrance rather than a help. You will quickly feel what you are doing subconsciously because consciously you will know what you are trying to do. Every shot will be a step towards a correct aim without guessing.

This is not a rip off kinda thing. I will now let you know about the limited testing it has had. I am looking for people around the 15/20 - 30/45 Break area's to test it with (if you're interested, lower or higher is fine). The people who have a sound technique and for the most part can deliver the cue ball straight but have not yet made the leap into higher scores.

The method has only been tested on a very small population of people (6 inclusive of myself) but we have seen a jump in performance (2 ball wonders into 7 to 10 ballers) in the last 6 weeks. The other people in this test group are just a couple of games a day people. I might play 2 or 3 hours a day after work. The method has taken me out of a pretty bad form slump into an average of, as the names says, ~90% and breaks into 50s and 60s. This is not a wonder, read it and you can do it kinda thing. You will have to still practice it. The difference though is you have one method that works for any shot and one so simple it makes visualising ghost ball seem like trying to visualise London Bridge next to the object ball.

Now I know, someone who is scoring 50 breaks is hardly an expert but, and I will be honest, it was something I blindly stumbled across.

I am looking for around 50 -100 people to test with. The cost will be $4.95USD for anyone who decides to be brave and join the test group. This will include a 10 to 15 minute video explaining the technique. (yeah, its that simple) I'm only charging a nominal fee for the setup of a website and to allow download or stream of the video, so really, see it as being free. Though of course, if I get back, "Hey, this is what I needed!", the price will rise.

Just email, snooker.method@gmail.com if interested. Give me your email address and I will contact you when content is created and the site is up. No obligation, just seeing if anyone is up for trying something new.

    Thanks.

    Let me sum this up:

    - you got a vague idea of a revolutionary aiming method at snooker
    - you go to one of the biggest snooker communities online, where legions of players, coaches, interested viewers of snooker chat. they share an incredible knowledge about snooker, some have played decades, coached world champions, been into snooker when you've not been born yet.
    - you tell them they're all struggling because they've not got your method yet
    - you state it's not been tested yet, fully, and....
    - it just costs a few bucks. full stop.

how many are interested? shall i ask nic barrow, or buy your video? hmmm maybe stephen hendry is interested, he's said to have missed easy pots recently.

    wuahaaahaa, sorry mate

This hasn't been noticed before. And I am pretty sure through 6 weeks of internet searching.

I have 46 interested in 2 hours of posting on the net. Hopefully, I can get 10 more quick so I don't have to interact with people like you in the near future.

Each for their own... I myself would rather pay £40 for some coaching at the TSF weekend, it might only work out at 20 minutes 1 on 1, where someone, who has been there, and coached hundreds of players, can look at my game and is likely to spot something (maybe lots of things. lol).

Yeah I know, the Wright Brothers were just ********s too until they actually took off.

Nah, not promising anything. I couldn't of said, theory, test and brave to try more if I wanted to.

I just offer it to them as an alternative to other methods out there. I could of just set a site up and charged $199 for it. But, unfortunately I have morals and I just want to see if the idea actually floats.

I thought for the one person. Who I don't really believe though he stated that he had never played a game before in his life, in six weeks to go to 7 to 10 pots was pretty good. Thats just me. Oh don't worry, I'll break a 100 in a month - the games stupid now.

Thanks, to the few guys from here with interest.

Wow, the net shows you one thing. You can't even give something away for free. And that even though someone has no idea what the guts of an idea is, naturally its wrong.

ever heard of free webspace, video files or even Youtube?

Try to foolish someone else, please. Or ask if your method is considered helpful, freely, of course you got to describe it for that. We got world champion's coaches here.

Btw, while the Wright brothers were pioneers constructing their plane, it's something different with snooker:
                      - snooker is KNOWN and proven to work by now, so no terra incognita
                      - millions of players have done it (with varying success)
                      - every minor aspect of the game has been discussed endlessly in an attempt to get better, by someone, and it's widely accepted that not all approach is of the same help for each player...

then, one more thing: The Wright brothers didn't charge 4.95 USD for a few sentences and a short video clip of a previously not specified 'flying object'. In fact, they proved we can construct planes. for free

I am sorry but I am convinced that there is NO 'secret method' or special tip that will suddenly improve a player. There have been many people in the past that have suddenly claimed that they have a secret which hasn't been used before and make 'ordinary' players good. Many players who are very good players will agree as they have made that improvement to a very good player without any special secret, and they know what is needed to improve.

The way to become a good player is not a secret and it is by many hours of practice and, of course, the correct technique, shot selection etc. and not because they happen to use a particular sighting method or potting method or whatever which may make them a not so good player, it is just because they are not good players!

By all means you may find something that you find helps your game but do you really think that you have come up with a method that hasn't been thought of before?

I would advise people not to waste their money on people claiming to have found 'the answer' and spend it properly and wisely.

It hasnt been done the before because you have to do some stuff to the numbers to actually see it. As I said it was an accident.

It is not a magic bullet, I stated that. You have to practice it like any other technique. It is just an alternative but it could be the simple equation that a good players subconscious notices after years of playing. The only assertion I make is that knowing the method (and its not really a method its an equation) and knowing to look for that MAY speed up developement. See I don't know yet, thats why I need more people.

Why the $4.95? Simple, to make people have a stake in it. Its the old if you pay $99 for a book you're less likely to freely go handing it out to everyone you see.

Let me just say, people that can already play are doing it. Its not new but I am just trying to offer an explanation of why. If you know why - how becomes much easier to do.

Snooker doesn't need an 'equation'. It is not maths.

Striking the ball, posture, bridge and grip - no, no maths whatsoever.. How those little things behave on the table - its all maths..
