  • potting secrets?

I've been recently watching Mark Williams' and Ronnie's way of playing. they seemed as a potting machines. im wondering is there is something they might be doing in their mentality that makes them sure that the ball will be pot in 100% ? or is it of the practice?

i noticed myself and even ordinary people in our clubs they just seem to face a situation when they miss an easy pot sometimes. further more, many people tell me that they sometimes " feel " that the ball they hit will be pot 100% even when it was a blind or hard angle and they do pot it .

is there is a chance pros do have this extreme mentality in every shot they do ?

    i have a "way"

and im serious and not kidding about it in anyway
once i was quite/really tipsy because i drank tequila shots on an empty stomach. i also mixed 2 pints of stella beer

i went to hte snooker table and became literally a potting machine for the night (but had a horrible headache and stomach the next day)
my long pot success for some reason was 8/10 (one of them was a black from its spot from the cushion). i played very quickly, my mid range was even better. i tripped on my cue though.....while i was walking around the table....

i had my (unofficial and tipsy) highest break of 58, and averaging average breaks of over 40 (in a game of first to 4 frames), when my usual, serious, sober practices were only 30 and some 20 respectively

i had another go a couple week later. and the similar events happened.

i figured what happened was that my muscles became very loose, so my cue action was very smooth. my wrist didnt move as it didnt tight up due to nervousness or overthinking. my elbow was literally lose, dangling. it was very relaxed. my grip was loose but firm as well.

my lesson from that is that dont over think things while potting. JUST FOCUS ON THE POT. dont wander your mind off wondering "is my elbow popping out?" "is my grip okay?" or "is my wrist moving" =D

I may try that with the stella and leave out the tequila shots one night..

I think the pros have the benefit of their experience but ALSO the benefit of having a better cueing technique than the rest of us mere mortals.

Also, a better cueing technique does mean loose grip and relaxed shoulder and elbow and everything comfortable (or half-****ed if you prefer).

That's all it is, the ideal snooker delivery technique should be loose, relaxed and comfortable but it SHOULDN"T be attained by tequila or Stella, but rather by practice and experience

I see, I guess being relaxed and comfortable with experience that developes potting.

No wonder Ronnie do jogging excercise to relax himself (instead of drinking ) it might be a thing that improves the game
