I've tried it before you run straight into the blue... Which is why all professionals on TV play the break off with side... I don't really understand how it would work without to be honest

Try it again mate. Just remember no side and the cue ball next to brown around 1/2 ball distance (more or less...this 1 you need to make some try+error stuff)...My cueing sucks
