Hi, assuming the cue ball is on the blue spot, and brown ball is on its own spot, and i am using a rest right handed. How should my legs be positioned? is it right leg at front, or the other way round? i am confused which way is the norm. I would like to know the norm positions for the legs please, can any player teach me how they can best be positioned. Thanks a lot

I would say right leg in front of left so that you body is at 90 degrees to shot. This gives you chance to play shot without your body getting in the way. Imagine you are playing on an imaginary table just behind green spot and set up square on stance around about there. Then body turns to play shot. However some people I coach prefer to face shot and so just stand square to table with left leg slightly ahead of right. I think with the rest you just need to be comfortable and be able to get down low to the shot, especially if you are tall. Also make sure you have room to pull cue back without bashing yourself in the face!coaching is not just for the pros

I used to be the worst player in the world with the rest, and then one day I was at the National Academy and I mentioned this to Tai Pichit. He told me that I should have the same stance and arm action as for playing darts, and I haven't missed a ball since. Coaching works when someone says just the right thing.
