I think that Frank Callan's snooker clinic (isbn 1-85225-069-0) is an easier read than Joe Davis's complete snooker (w.h. Allen 1974 ) I couldn't afford "How I play snooker" by Joe Davis, which is apparently the God of all books. Apparently Steve Davis studied this and took most of it as gospel although he tweeked bits to form the basis of his game . Bear in mind that I don't believe that Joe ever got a 147 and Steve did, I guess any book by Steve should be better for todays playing conditions. Ivory balls were very heavy and so I guess different techniques were required. All that said, there are much more knowledgeable people than me on this site so take their advice too, but I would certainly recommend Callans book from a technique point of view.

I bet that wasn't done for a good few years after! At that time that was incredible. That would still have been with ivory balls as well I would imagine. Cheers for the information, do you know who against or where?
