Does anyone have any routines in practice for 8-ball pool?

i play in a league and every week im the first one to arrive so probabbly spend about an hour on my own basically playing a game against myself. Its useful enought to get my eye in but i tend to take difficult shots on that i would never attempt in a league match so its not that beneficial really.

i'm doing well enough this season (W14 L7) so im not desperate to improve or anything but im just after a challenging way of practising that will get me focused.

    Cheers

    6 ball.

If you're frequently breaking and running on that

    7 ball

If you're requently... etc etc etc

If you've only get reds and yellows just put 6 balls in the triangle and try and clear in on visit

all i practice is break and dishing i break go for the colour im on and clear up just like a match but when i pot the last colour i move onto the other colour before potting the black, if there are some shots your not gd at practice them aswell

when it comes to 1 frame tho a player who knows how 2 play will beat an out n out potter 8 times out of 10, watch the best tactical players play n get bits of advice of them as my coach is 1 of the best tacticians in my area and im now a solid potter and a solid fudger etc

note down when u go for the clearance do u get it? this all helps to no what level ur on

btw ive lost 3 games in 2 leagues in 4-5 months lol :P not bad when 1 frame can be like a toss of a coin

        i like this idea thanks.

my strong point is my tactical game ive a decent record against the guys who are top of the merit table cos i grind them down however ive a reputation for messing up total clearences when theyre all there for me. its a mental thing for me really. this should really help nice one

Hi the break is where it is all at.

Practice a powerful loop bridge and aim your white on the ball or a spot through the pack. I set the line of the shot from the break at an angle and aim for the diamond.

I did not actually watch the whole video....sorrrreeee
I am not advocating the way anyone does it I am just giving my opinion that the best thing to practice at pool is the break because that's the most important shot.:snooker:

I have some saved somewhere, more of a shot drill sort of thing but wont do any harm.

Have you read the book "on cue" very good book with some practice clearances etc.

                    heres the link:

Yep some good drills there, those Dr-Cue videos are decent. What I normally do for practise is to play snooker first for an hour then switch to pool. :-)

If you're ok with the tactical side of the game , the best
thing to do is keep practicing your potting and positional
                        play.
The best way to practice both sides is to get yourself a
partner to practice with before your matches, preferably
somebody slightly better than yourself or evenly matched
but repetition is the best if not most riveting form of practice.
