I have been toying with the idea of a trip to the snooker farm to see Del, what are his rates?

Your problem can be only a few things and it is an elimination process you need to go through.
1: you are aiming to side of cue ball and not concentrating enough on it(cure with longer front pause and more effort)
2: you are cueing to centre of cue ball but follow through is going off line(cure practise straight cueing without hitting ball) example: cue through the neck of a small soda bottle or packet of matches, thus forcing you to cue straight.
3: you think you are hitting centre of cue ball but are in fact aiming slightly to side.(cure you need to look at how you are sighting ball. It could be just being a little more deliberate in your approach or it could be you need to change your sighting in which case you will more than likely need a good coach or you could try sight-right)
4: a combination of some of the above or all. I say this as it is often the case that 1 fault not corrected will lead to another.

It should not be forgotten that the power of thought has a massive effect on your game also, so be careful about your thought patterns.
If you try not to think about something, then that action automatically makes you think about it(strange i know but fact). Therefor always think about what you DO WANT and not what you don't want.
          Hope this helps.

On the verge of somthing special

Just thought I'd give an update, I’m playing really well without making any big breaks. I'm potting as well as any pro but am so excited that I can't keep my cool, I'm buzzing on my potting and flying around the table. I just need to calm down and the breaks will flow.
I can't give all the credit to Del, but what I will say is that he got me looking at different things and has made big changes to my game with things that he said in conversation without intending that to be the end result.
Two things that I've change is that I'm playing with a shorter cue as a result of Del saying that he didn’t care how much my bridge arm was bent only that I shorten the amount of overhang on my cue. He told me to hold the cue further up the butt, which I couldn’t get used too, so I went for a shorter cue. The second thing that Del has done, is that he has changed my grip, even though we didn’t really work on my grip, but just by telling me to go down on the shot with the palm of my hand touching the cue my grip has changed and I'm now cuing straighter than I have for years. I just need to calm down and start concentrating. Even without the beaks I'm still winning games so very happy indeed.
                        Watch this space
PS: I hope the video uploads can help others on the forum, there is a lot of info there between the lines you just have to be able to hear it.

What size cue have you now gone to? I had a shoulder injury years ago and as a result my bridge arm is bent which means I have a lot of cue overhang. I have toyed with the idea of a shorter cue but have never really had a way of trying it. My current cue is a hunt & Osborne green badge 58" I keep thinking of having it reduced to 56".

Have you noticed by doing this it keeps the wrist and cueing hand straight?, where as I have the thumb and fore finger grip and the butt of the cue just rests in the other 3 fingers which tends to cock the wrist out to the right.
I have considered using a shorter cue but am reluctant to cut my cue down by an inch or two. Will shorten the grip before making that drastic change.
Thanks for the feed back. Keep enjoying the game!

I was playing with a 57 inch cue and thought I needed a longer cue so got my TW made too 58 1/4. I had a few big breaks but my general form was bad and I was missing lots of balls and getting hammered.
So I brought a cheap cue from snooker loopy on ebay for £30 and cut it down to 56 I tryed playing with my JP and TW today before having to go back to the cheap que as I couldn't play with them at all.
So I'm going to take the TW into H & O and get the cue changed to the spec of the cue I'm using now.
I think I could go even shorter, down to 55 but am going to stick to 56 for now, one think I will say is that I had no problem reaching any shots and my rest play has also improved aswell.

I used to grip the cue with a full grip, very much into the fingers, so that the wrist was straight, this was a very firm grip and I think I might have been twisting the cue on delivery.
The new grip is much like ronnies, with me holding the cue with the plam and the fingers before going down on the shot. I find this cocks the wrist out and forward, I find it's difficult to hold the cue too tight using this grip.
Somethings working, I am just finding that I hitting the ball true and this is allowing my game to open up. More shots are coming into my play.
