  • one hand on the rest

    salam,

I hope to get an answer for this question :
A snooker player is using a mechanical bridge ( rest ) to take a shot without having one hand on the rest while shooting. Is this called a foul ?

As long as the rest doesn't touch or disturb any of the balls on the table it shouldn't be a foul... But how else would you keep the rest steady if you're not holding it with your free hand?

A little tip on using the rest: Use your free hand to force the rest down into the table. On power shots with the rest, you will sometimes see the rest head move slightly and most players never notice.

Occasionally you do feel a bit of movement in the rest. Good idea there longbomber, never throught of that!
