  • A century described by a Pro

Found a great video with Eddie Charlton describing his thought process for a century break in 1973! Not all the shots are shown but it's a great way to understand some crucial elements of breakbuilding.

Century breaks on television were rare in those days! This stood as the highest break in Pot Black until 2005!

Yeah and this probably took Eddie 20 minutes or more if i remember his style properly. Its worth mentioning at the beginning of the clip the chap in the middle is Tony Knowles who is still competing in the PTCs as an amateur and the guy on the left is David Icke who went from presenting sport on British TV to claiming he was the new Messiah and conspiricy theorist! For those of you who didn't know.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&cli...&v=a3pTXsz8wyE Try this excellent footage. Willie Thorne apparently jus rattles off a 147 on a whim between commentating on matches at the BBC and tells us all how to do it. Not sure of the vintage but guessing about 10 years ago.
                Part two isn't far away

No I've not heard of editing, what does that mean?

Have a look again. The word 'apparently' suggests a hint of irony in my post.

Still, a nice little tutorial, if there is editing can't see the joins and i really want to believe he did it there and then anyway, he sure gets excited to say its faked.

He did miss a couple in when filming that, there's a version on YouTube where it shows him missing a black and then saying something like, 'This could be a long one'.

Shame they should've left those in. What about this http://m.youtube.com/watch?gl=GBdcli...&v=nhGGfB2-vG0 do you think that Jimmy and Alan McManus are being totally honest?
