Not true. I believe most players use some form of the 4-point 'channel' or 'groove' as taught by Del Hill. They are bridge, chin, chest and grip.
At any rate the chest is always in play at the end of the delivery anyway, where the back of the grip thumb should 'drive' into it.
That said, some coaches do not recommend having the cue on the chest as some players will tend to 'steer' the cue around the chest (for right-handed players this means butt to the right and tip to the left).
The important fact to remember if you use the chest contact is to BRING THE CHEST TO THE CUE and NOT the cue to the chest. So get down on the shot and ensure your right shoulder (grip arm shoulder) is as high as possible so it can't lift during the backswing or drop during the delivery
