Got 10/10 yesterday John with 8 in offs, and that was in the Red Triangle!! Do you have Norris McWhirter's number?

Just had my day's coaching with Jim and now have a new stance. Apparently my old stance was like trying to play round corners. Who was it that set me up with that stance? Let me think..

The only ball I can pot at the moment is the long blue.

Aye? Glad you enjoyed it, ah've got the major bug but alas someone has put a metal plate in ma erse and magnetised the big chair. Fancy a game Monday night? I'll even take a risk an play you level.

Your old stance? Was it an independent computer software professional?

And it isn't THAT difficult on that particular shot as that's all you have to think about. I'm just an average club player who has never made a century and gets to play on average 1-2 times a week. My record is 7 in offs in a row i.e. pot blue and follow in with white and I have had 10/10 pots on the blue.
No, I did get your point, and agree that picking the angle is not a problem since the angle should be zero. My point was that lining up correctly and cueing perfectly straight are far more difficult than correctly choosing potting angles of non-straight shots - if your cueing is exemplary, then your brain will automatically figure out the angles. If your cueing is not perfect, then the error will hamper this process.

If you can really pot 10/10 long blues then I'd consider you an exceptional player, better than any club player I've had the pleasure of playing against.

Unfortunately not, since it's not something you'd see on TV and he doesn't happen to practice at my club

Monday night is good for me. Need to be home by 9pm or I'll get grounded so hopefully you can make it for about 5-6pm? I think you'll be safe enough off of level for now.

Good guess on the old stance.

Sorry ccfook I've hijacked your thread. Heres the secret, don't play quite so hard, relax. You won't improve every day, it doesn't work like that. You're just on a little plateau just now and when you reach the end of that, improvement will begin again.

I can't always remember exact words but Walter Lindrum, in his book stated that when practising, just when you want to give up and stop is when you will discover something that helps.

We have all been where you are mate, as long as you have the basics and don't run before you can walk, you'll be ok. Terrys right, a lot of it is in the grip and you say "you've been playing so hard".

Feeling pressure is not called "tightening up" for nothing. Stay loose and enjoy.

I've had 10/10 once, I'm also more than capable of getting 0/10 which is by far my most common score on this exercise. I am not by any means an exceptional player.

                      Hi
I have recently returned to practice long blues again to improve my long potting and to make sure that I am tricking the cue ball in the centre.

We it didn't start that well, I got 2/10 twice so I reduced the distance to about two feet again I only managed 3-4/10 which frustrated me I preceeded and reduced the distance again to about 1 foot this turned out easy for me I potted 8/10 first attempt and another attempt I got 10/10, so I returned to 2feet but this time I played without feathering and surprise surprise I got 8/10 twice.

Now I can pot 5/10 from the baulk line to the blue spot, I think that I will keep practicing feathering however on long pots I'll stick to none feathering as I am getting much more success this way.
