  • 'snooker coaching'

Does anyone in the UK do a 'coaching weekend' or 'days in mid week' where there is a group and therefore the cost is kept down?.

Nic Barrow does these I believe, as does Del Hill. Check out the coaching links on here: http://www.ldbsa.co.uk/coaching.php

Why not just do it when you can squeeze the time off? It's your earnings brah.

I have been playing now for a year, although there are some eliments in my game that have improved others haven't.

potting and position for instance are two areas that need some attention, my highest break hasn't improved for six months.

i have had 3-4 coaching sessions, however i wasn't satisfied with the way i was coached (other than the first session which was just the basics stance , grip , bridging ...etc), after initially looking at my general play they would give me routines to practice for ten minutes then come back and give me another, which i found not helping at all. I can do this on my own without a coach. there are plenty routines on the internet i can download and practice.

what i want is a coach to stand there and watch me play tell me what i should do on the shot and if i don't make the shot tell me what i was doing wrong and give me advice.

i would love to be coached by Nic Barrow after watching some of his coaching vids it is just what i need to improve my game, his attention to details is great. unfortunately i live in sheffield and he is in Milton Keynes a bit of a hike.

i practice at the sheffield snooker academy once a week and at my local club once a week, i am so frustrated at my lack of improvement i canot enjoy the game that i love so much... i need help and advice before it get to the point of not bothering any more

I like many of us feel that I am capable of playing better but yes you are right, to have someone there and have that intensive coaching for a set period either for a full day or over several days.
              Good luck with your game

I too have Stephen Rowlings DVD. I have also had lessons from him in the past and he is a great bloke who I would recommend and I may see him again but its the intensive coaching in one block of a few days that I would like.

Thanks for the info., you are right I'm in Wigan about 20 miles from Southport.
I know about Les Dodd and I have just been onto his website but unortunately it is under construction.
I will get some more coaching, its just a matter of who, where and when.
My highest break is 59. In practice, line ups etc I have had 98 and (110 although that was a one off)

Yes perfectly true, even mates (those who I trust) in the club spot faults that sometimes you don't even know about but it is still worthwhile watching the video's and trying to put into practice the techniques used.
