  • Snooker tuition DVD

    Hi everyone!

New to the forum, been playing snooker on and off for about 4 years and have just recently started playing again with my dad. I'm looking to get him a snooker coaching dvd for his birthday. Are there any that people recommend? The only one i've really seen is 'Understanding Modern Snooker With Jack Karnehm'. Before i buy this i just wanted to check that there isnt anything better about?

    Thank in advance

I have this and yes it is good with lots of good tips etc., but the presentation is a little dated now and whilst this doesn't detract from its content, I would imagine there are others more modern in their presentation and outlook. I hope this helps

Thanks for your response Tony! That was partly my thinking too. Im sure the content is great but maybe something a little more up to date would be more appropriate if there is anything available.

Nic Barrow's Snooker Gym series is the best there is.
Oh, and that's a bad miss.

I forgot to mention that I also had the WPBSA video done by Terry Griffiths which again is also good but now old. You still get lots of tips but if I were buying any now I would look for the more modern ones just because of the graphics, presentaion etc.,
The concensus of opinion seems to be that Nic Barrow videos are the ones to buy.

I would say that the Jack Karnehm DVD is the best to buy. Covers all the main points of technique, without leaving out all the important information like some DVDs. Also has lots more information, on break building for example. It is also at a reasonable cost. Available here: http://snookerscene.co.uk/shop.php?sec=prod&prod=412

Nic Barrow's DVDs are also good.

As I said in my previous post I enjoyed the Jack Karnham video and still go back to it now, becasue the technical aspects of the game still apply.
I even enjoyed the early part of it which shows them building the table. I wasn't sure if any other people had more modern videos whic were better.

                  I've used YouTube a lot

Stephen Rowlings DVD is good. Nice chap and it's not too expensive.

Nic Barrow's is highly recommended throughout the game, so if you can afford it, I would go with that
                  Cheers

There was a instructional video from the Matchroom series many years ago called 'The Positive Touch'. It goes all through the basics of the game. I think its been uploaded on to youtube..
