  • Are Very Hard Shots a Good Test of your Cueing ?

When i'm cueing well and feel like i can't miss, i feel comfortable slamming the ball in as hard as i possibly can . You see the pros when they have finished a century and the last black doesn't matter, sometimes they slam it in at warp speed.

The harder you strike the ball, the more any unwanted side will throw the cueball off path, so surely being accurate when striking the ball very hard is a decent indication of good cueing ?

The harder you hit the shot the better you have to cue .

I don't think they are, if you watch the vids on SH and JH practicing in the shanghia masters you can see that they miss a lot of long balls. It doesn’t seem to bother them so for them I don't think the pot is that important. They must be focusing more on the action then the pot it's self. No one can pot every ball all the time and in match play the whole idea of the game is to make the next shot as easy as possible with good positional play.
If you watch the vids of John Higgins They show his action very clearly, much better then you see on the tv. You can see how he maintains the CCP through out the whole action.

yeah there's not many players that keep the cue on the 4 contact points when they deliver the cue, no elbow drop especially on long pots he's practising.

but after all that technique he still misses an easy pink into the corner, lol.

John Higgins is Unreal in Exhibition I have seen him a few Times and his Cueing is Great and Cue Action.

What I will say thou as im Not a bad Player myself!..lol....When Playing well and your Confidence is High you can Roll Balls in which some shots are More Difficult, But when Pressure/Tension is on you Stab the Ball rather the Stroke it and miss.

The Advantage the Pro's have is they are Able to Roll Most Balls in if they want to, Where as most Clubs are unable to this as there are always a Odd few tables which aren't running so well.

            Gaz.
