LOL, yes that's me too. I only really play with two friends, both of whom are honest. We use the bottom slider on the score board to count breaks as we're going. Generally the player who is not playing does the scoring, fetching balls from pockets etc. But I've not played against anyone I don't know so far.

i usually find if i count my own breaks then it knocks me off my stride when i get above 30...

if i try and forget about it, i end up potting a whole load of balls, then when i eventually do miss, i re-think over how many blacks/pinks/colours etc ive potted and hten just add them up.... but sometimes i can forget some so sometimes my break is higher than what i actually say it is...lol
what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....

At the moment I seem to be doing a fair bit of counting for my opponent. I find with some of these players I have to start counting out loud after a couple of frames as otherwise the breaks get tricky to keep track off.

Agree as well you do have to watch some players very carefully, also keep a close eye on the scoreboard with these culprits (experts at adding an extra 20 pts in a flash).

where i play your opponent counts for you either say out loud or in head but even in pro comps you should have the break in your head incase ref makes a error in points

Usually, we just recalled our short memory which balls we potted at all, but for 30+ break, it quite hard to remember all exactly. Sometimes both players need to recall & discuss for a while.
May be even casual games with friends, opponent should count the break for the player, it's kind of manners or sportsmanship, let your opponent to concentrate on the table. Usually, i'll count the total score loud once the break end, but i can't ask anyone to do the same way to me.
Snooker is such a classic game (sport?), it's time to have some devices to improve it even such a minor thingy. i really don't think the wooden board + brass scale can't be replace by some electronic/digital devices. sometimes it's really hard to see the exact points from the other side of table.
            :) :) :)

IMO the best way is that everybody has to count the score of his opponent loudly after each pot. Some guys prefer to score loudly only when they now the opponents break will be over...this is disgraceful. Even more disgraceful is when your opponent only tells you the score after you ask him. I stopped playing against those guys...its just a waste of time. I only trust a few people that they will give me the 100% correct score without telling me after each pot.
mind control > body control > cue control > ball control

unfortunately, some people choose gamesmanship over sportsmanship... yes, i sometimes find it hard to make out the points too... a more prominent scoreboard would be great.

It hurts when i ask my opponent "what did i get then" and he looks at me with a strange look and say's "ONE"

My mates have to. I'm on morphine lol, and can't remember what colour they just potted, nevermind their score sometimes.

In reverse, I find it annoying when you make a 155 and they call 154 by mistake. Happens all the time that. Really annoying. You don't mind the first time , but ...........
