Using the rest

Hi,

when you are playing with a rest, should the butt end points toward your mouth, nose, or chin? Sometimes i find that the butt is hitting my nose, very uncomfortable with it.

Another question is, do you need a pause when using a rest? i have pause in my game without rests.

hold the cue like a dart, look down the shaft at where you are going to strike the white and dont hold it too close to your head.

same as a normal shot, feathe,r pause, then strike

The rest should be slightly below your chin which will give you a good height to assess the angle of the pot.

Use a rhythm with the rest that is exactly the same as your normal rhythm and remember it is VITAL to follow through with the rest, perhaps not as much as in your normal stroke but as much as you can muster while keeping the cue straight.

With the rest, do the same as you do normally, and by that I mean at the rear pause focus your eyes on the object ball and make sure you are focused on the object ball before you start the delivery
