Terry Griffiths Coaching

I have some coaching with Terry Griffiths this weekend. Have booked myself in for a session so he can run the rule over me.
Has any one else been to his matchroom? A little nervous to be honest as I know he coaches alot of Pro's. Not really sure what to expect at the moment but he seemed like a really nice chap on the phone.

I had some time with his son, Wayne, some years ago and it was a revelation and a superb experience.
Terry Griffiths did pop in to have a chat and both gents were very nice and so knowledgeable, as well superb coaches. All that I learnt I took to heart and has improved my ability and understanding of the game.
The venue is a nice room, parking can be a pain, I parked across the road in the sports centre (I think) car park. Not a long walk back though.

i went to llanelli a few weeks ago with a friend of mine. he's a nice guy, made us coffee personally and had a number of improvements which i found useful.

I wonder why none of the pros that Griffiths coaches has a cue action that is remotely like his. Is he telling them all that the way he played was totally wrong.
I always thought that Griffiths cue action was superb BTW.

Terry has a wealth of knowledge that he can pass onto you. He has a grasp of both the technical side and mental side of the game and his son, wayne, is also a very good coach. The actual matchroom is very nice and the software they have is amazing. Good luck

They have a junior player of distinction scheme down in the matchroom and Wayne and Terry took one lad from scratch, who's currently high up on the welsh juniors rankings. Whether he finally makes the grade remains to be seen.
His first success was to the win the Pontin's under 14s when he was 11!

I have to say my time in Llanelli with Wayne Griffiths was very enjoyable although last January was very cold for south Wales and I froze the first few days as the club's heating couldn't keep up with the temperatures outside.

Three match tables, one in a private room and Hainsworth match cloths all in very good nic and replaced frequently.

The one thing I did notice is every afternoon there were a lot of juniors practicing, some of them quite good and Wayne would watch them and offer tips when needed (Terry was away at the Masters).

Also, Matthew Stevens has his own table set up there for practice (one of the match tables, but a little tighter than normal) and also Xaio Guadong (sp?) was practicing there, so I could have a coffee and watch either of them practice.

Didn't rent a car so parking wasn't a problem and Wayne organized a reasonable B&B just 4 blocks from the club plus there's decent restaurants and an Asda right in the neighborhood.

Table hourly rates are good, good deal for 40 quid a month too. play as much as ya like for 40 quid a month. pity i'm not a lickle bit closer to terry's...

(he's not too far away, but too far to go a few times a week for me)

i emailed terry for a qoite and he said it weas £120 per hour , wehich put me on the back foot straight away .

Great coach he may be , but come on , put things into persepective ( cost of living )

Yip 120 quid an hr, but a min of 2 hrs with terry...


I'll be more than happy going upto the academy for 6 hours next month for fraction of that...:snooker:

£120 per hour is RIDICULOUS, I don't care how good a coach he is. It's a shame because I would have gone down at some point but if that price is correct there's no chance.
