Cue Butt Up Or Down

i have a question does one side of the cue hit a bit different then the other, i find mine does but it could be beauce i have never shot with the other side of the cue in the 15 years i have been useing it. I have played so much snooker with this cue that it has a flat spot on the backside where my bridge hand is.

Ronnie has the flat facing upwards. Hendry has it facing to the right, Jamie Cope has it facing downwards. Whatever you feel is best! Don't obssess over it imho.

Hold it anyway that feels right to you. I also had never heard of using the chevrons to sight down - AS IF. until came onto the Forum. Anybody would think that cues had sights like a rifle. lol

Which ever way feels right to you, is the right way.

Lol Ronnie almost did that against Holt (who decided to play on when 90 behind and only the colours left) before but the ref (Alan Chamberlain, I believe) had a word with him

You would have quite a problem if used it badge end on your bridge. Would not get much screw on it ......... lol Would have to use all plain ball shots.

Virtually all cue makers make a cue with the arrows (or chevrons) in the ash on the top side of the cue where the badge is, and a lot of people use these to sight down. Obviously you don't have to, (and can't on a maple cue anyway as there are none) but i think the majority of people play with the badge uppermost.

On a similar subject, does anyone find the chevrons on an ash cue distracting? I was convinced this was the case for me, I preferred the badge/ bevel facing down touching my fingers so spent ages hunting down an ash cue (don't like maple before anyone asks) with dead straight grain opposite the bevel.

A couple of months ago after playing poorley I rotated the cue so the chevrons were upermost and almost immediately started potting a lot better, needless to say I'm a bit confused

Yea I guess it doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable with it...
