  • Deliver thru the line of aim

I was practicing lately to focus only in deliver the cue straight through the line of aim without thinking in the pot, cue ball position or object ball. That way, once I select my line of aim, I start feathering, front pause, rear pause, acceletaion and staying on the shot without moving after completed. I didn't look where the cue ball goes, or the object ball, I found that I am more focussed on the delivery without worrying with the pot. Any comments to this method?????

    Thanks

Probably has some benefits in the short term if youre having trouble delivering the cue.
Cueing should be a relaxed motion that is fluent, feels natural and looks easy.
The biggest concern I think with this would be making your action too mechanical. Look at the pros with the best cue actions who get the most out of the white (stephen lee, jimmy, ronnie, trump). They all look so natural and often adapt the way they cue the ball on different shots.

If I could offer any advice on delivering a straight cue I would say focus firstly on your whole body position by standing up looking at the shot before you step forward and adress it (something the top guys always do on pressure shots). Relax the whole body and when you are ready, let the cue strike by itself, 'for lack of a better expression'.

Also remember there are only two things that matter in any cue sport. Get position on the next ball and pot it (in that order).
