  • Can too much practice cause injury?

Is it possible to practice too much and cause myself an injury?

I had 2 hours or so on Saturday, 4 on Sunday, 4 on monday, and at least 4 tomorrow...

As a result, my right knee feels pretty stiff and my left shoulder feels abit loose... Are these just normal aches and pains from using muscles that I normally wouldn't? I've only been playing for a fortnight.

More than likely they're just normal aches and pains. Have a hot bath and soak them, then rub on some heat creme and take a day off. Snooker does tend to use different muscles and stress knee, elbow and shoulder in different ways to other sports/hobbies. If the pain does not go away, or it comes back the same or worse then have a look at...

    Intro/Stance 1: http://www.youtube.com/user/nicbarro.../2/jFMWcwH-6o8
    Stance 2: http://www.youtube.com/user/nicbarro.../1/6S6CqirCaBI
    Stance 3: http://www.youtube.com/user/nicbarro.../0/bu47H4HW2gM

    ..etc..

I think there are 8 videos on stance and at least 10 on grip plus some on the mental game. If you load up nic's channel on youtube and click show all uploads, then type stance 1, stance 2, etc into the seach box you'll find the links I posted above.

EDIT: If nothing you do gets rid of the pain, then it might be time to see a physio .. in rare cases you can get something like tennis elbow in your joints, including the knee.

Thanks for the advice and video links nrage.

Is it just me, or do Nic's pants look a little bit too snug in these clips?

Mmm, haha yeah I supose it is more than abit strange that all I took from a Nic Barrow video was the fact that his pants looked a bit tight... Now lets never speak of this again!!
