  • Cue weight and dimentions?

I would like to get another cue but as I've read on several posts, good luck finding the [U]right one[U]. The 18oz, 60in, 10mm, 2pc. with a thick butt that I am using now seems like it should be the one but in all its beauty just doesn't make me happy. Hard to explain. So I would like to get another. Are there any set definitions of a good fit like with other sports equipment? Also a problem I think that is happening when trying to apply deep screw is that the shaft is bending so much that I get great jump shots and take a nick out of the felt, so I'm restricting my screw shots, I do chalk well and am trying to do all the right things. Another concern is that I always seem to hit a little to hard and missing good shape.
So on those last two points should I get a stiffer shaft and a lighter cue?
    Thanks for your consideration.

Average cues are between 17 and 17.5 ounces, 58 inches in length, tip size about 9.5mm, butt diameter 29mm. Try to go to a cue shop that has a table to try them out. As for your screw shots, if the shaft is bending then the cue may be too whippy or you are hitting too hard or too low.

That may be average for one piece cues maybe, most 3/4 cues will be between 18 & 19 from what ive had/seen
