  • Lining up a shot

I'll rephrase a previous question. I seem to line up every shot, even when i'm in amongst the balls, trying to develop a break. Is this necessary on every shot, or long/middle distance shots?? It's affecting my pace of play.

Don't worry about the pace of play as you'll soon discover your own pace that is natural to you.

And yes, it is proper and correct to stand behind each shot and decide not only the potting angle or line of aim but also where you're going to hit the cueball and how hard you are going to hit the cueball to get position. Before you get down on the shot you should have made all the decisions while standing up behind the shot.

As you get more experience this process becomes quicker and quicker until sometimes it will look like you're not doing it at all
