  • Kinovea Tutorial?

    Hi all,

Just tried out the kinovea app, but can't seem to work with it.
Anyone got some tutorials or guidelines ?

    Much appreciated!

    Cheers

The only person who regularly mentions video analysis is coach Terry Davidson, not sure which software he uses but he may know the ins/outs of this one. Have a look under the coaching forum to see any threads about video analysing software.

Hey DeanH, thanks for the reply.
I did browse threads including kinovea ( search button )
Couldn't find anything specific bout the program. It's bugging me that the lines disappear after a frame.
I hope Terry / Nrage have an answer to this question

I haven't tried to make the lines permanent but there was a previous posting by 'nrage' I believe where he told us what to do for permanent lines when using Kinovia.

            He said - 'choose 'options-preferences-drawings'
tick 'show drawings when video playing'
check 'enable persist' slide to right and click 'always visible'

As I say, I haven't tried this yet as I use the frame-by-frame and a reference behind the player's head or else his cue on the pocket leather to see movement in either

It wasn't me, it was another forum member who posted how to do it. I haven't tried it yet, and don't have it here at work so I can't try it now. Chu; do the steps above work?

.. ok, downloaded it here at work, and found a video to test with. The latest kinovea has slightly different settings. To enable persistent references/drawings do the following...

                    Options menu, click preferences.
                    Drawings options, click Persistence tab.
                    Click 'Always Visible' check box.

The slider no longer has an 'always' position, it goes from 1 to 200 frames with a default of 20. But checking that box makes it ignore the slider and just last forever.

                      Hey, thx for the reply!

Yeah I've found it after Terry mentioned it. Got it.

But is it possible to remove the lines when needed? or they won't disappear.
My second alternative is to record the work i'm doing with HyCam or something, like Nic does with Dartfish I think.
I think that's a pretty solid way of recording the video coaching.

Or is it possible to completely work with Kinovea one way or another?

                      Got any thoughts?

                      Cheers!

I've not tried anything this complicated with it so I would say try experimenting and let us know what you find out
