Elkmaster are very good tips they are underrated in my opinion.still lots of pros use them.
Last week put on a nice firm elk and went down to the club and made a century in the first frame and a 62 and 73 in the 3rd and the 4th frame respectively. Can't fault them especially at the price they come.
But finally it comes down to personal preference.

Matt: Excellent advice. I think I can go with Blue Diamond then because those already contain a nice little dome and you just need to brush em a little and that is it. Blue Diamond give an excellent response on my shots and I feel comfortable with them. Will go for those laminated or layered whatever ones once I am a little better with my game but as for now BlueD or ElkM would do... !!!

By the way, I had watched a couple of videos on changing the tip including John Parris, Nic Barrow and even Terry Griffiths. They make it look so easy on the internet (these pros) anyway I had a go yesterday. I fitted the tip with a gel glue from UHU but then realised it isnt really an ahdesive for this kind of fix pr perhaps needs to be left a long long while to dry down. So I fitted the tip and then cut it down (the extra part) with a sharp cutter and ended up ruining the tip and then had to get another one fitted and then did not cut it but sanded it down to meet the size of my ferrule. Still struggling with the tip to get bedded in becasue the feel of a new tip is rather strange and wont become the usual thing till some games are played with it.

      Lets see...

doing a good job of retipping is not as easy as it seems, and you can easily ruin a tip. but with a lot of practise and seeking out knowledge you can get better.

If your tip is spongy and you can seperate the fibres of the tip with your thumb then its no good. This happens mostly from not cutting it properly. Use a very sharp blade when cutting, use a slicing action, and try not to sand the ferrule as this can lead to you having to replace it.

Super glue gels work best, i like gorilla super glue as this is also impact resistant.

Yeah thanks for the suggestions Matt. My friend helped me in retipping and he fitted the tip and sanded the extra bit with a hard sand paper and I think it must have done wrong to the ferrule as well. My bad. Wont happen again I will be careful. I will use a very sharp blade next time as you mentioend and shall slice it rather than what I did- sawing it ;(

So what could be the best way then? Any ideas anybody?

The top of the ferrule shouldn't be sanded right. So how can one level it for the tip if after sanding the base of the tip it still doesnt seem to fit on properly.

after tip fitting the extra sides should be sliced with a sharp blade and not sanded off?

            Cheers!

when you cut the old tip off you should scrape all the old little bits of tip off with the blade until its perfectly flat and ready for the new tip, then just rough it up a little with sandpaper so the new tip will stick. again try not to excessively sand the ferrule as this will damage it
