Where to look when playing a shot

I like to look at the point on the cue ball that I wish to strike, then at the pause at the end of my third feather, I look at the point on the object ball that I wish to hit. Before I get down to hit the shot, I work out by sight a precise point on the object ball that I wish to hit.

You play the same way I do. At the front pause just before the final backswing I lock my eyes on the object ball. When I received coaching from Nic Barrow he tried to get me to raise my eyes to the object ball either just before, or during or even a little after the rear pause and I found my natural rhythm went to hell. I even tried it for at least 3 months because it does help develop a natural rear pause (which I don't have much of) but it has never worked for me.

I believe as we get a little older it takes the eyes a little longer to focus and I feel more natural moving my eyes to the object ball at the front pause and giving the eye plenty of time to focus. As long as my upper body doesn't move on the backswing or delivery I make a lot more pots this way
