  • I hate losing

Some people preach "Its not the winning that counts its playing the game" sort of stiff upper lip thinking" but to be honest "I HATE LOSING" Even if I am playing against a close friend in a informal pleasure match "I HATE LOSING" Anybody else out there who suffers with the I.H.L. Syndrome. My other half says "Its only a game" boy does that wind me up. (I am always the perfect gentleman on the outside when I lose wont tell you what I am thinking on the inside.)

not me,i hate playing bad, my quality of play is all that matters to me,my feeling is if you play well most times youll win,so that takes care of itself.

well don't think you got to be ashamed by this way to react .personnaly i hate playing badly , i know what i'm capable of on the table but i'm deffinetly not a real competitor . i've won many tournaments ( 8ball and 9 ball ) but when i'm under pressure i just sometimes struggle and play rubbish , and loose . loosing hurt me but playing badly drive me insane . when my opponent played great defeat is lil' less easy to accept than if it was a scrappy game
concerning your way to feel 'bout defeat maybe your more a competitor , whatever the game

We had a real strict games master at my school and losing was not an option (Real old school thinking) maybe he was right maybe he was wrong but I think it may have sort of got inside my head.

well i don't know as we all got different personnality and what work for me could not work for others
i think that the only thing that we all got in common is the amount of pleasure we get of what we do
for me it is to play some difficults shot , try some crazy shots with massive spins or try to increase my highest break ( 89 )
for others is to win . denja told about his games master at his school , but i think it is inside him and the games master did not made him be like that it's just his state of mind , he probably was like that even when really young playing soccer , tennis table or whatever with is mates , winning is the pleasure he get of the game and no one can blaime him for that , even if for me results are not my goal , that explain why Ronnie o'sullivan is my favourite player

I think that sometimes in this modern P.C. world winning has become a dirty word, I have attended a few school sports days where everybody gets a prize it appears this is so that the losers dont feel bad and get a mental hang up ! (This is true I got it from one of the teachers) but lets face it life is not like that there are winners and losers I will throw my hat in the ring and say that anyone who has made it in sports the arts music in fact any walk of life has had a bit of a ruthless winning streak.

RONNIE is a prime Example and lets not forget ALEX.

I'm one of the " I don't hate loosing, I just don't like it". It hurts to lose......fact. But I soon get over it.....played in a 24 hour charity snooker marathon recently and aimed to go unbeaten throughout.....lost 2 frames..a bit pi&@3d off at first...but my outlook is, forget it......and enjoy the game we love.
You may defeat me but I will fight you to the very end!!!!

Hi Denja, I don't mean to be rude but if losing effects you that much it will stop your progress and you will not be able to play with any freedom and to be honest with a highest break of 50 you will be beaten often unless your playing mugs. In any sport you need to learn how to lose before you can win. You also have to take into account the type of game your playing, if it is a comp you'll want to get through a couple of rounds so will play hard to win, but when your playing a mate you should relax and enjoy the game.

That's true and not at all easy to do.

Reminds me of the lyrics to one of my favourite songs; Dream On from Aerosmith "...you got to lose to know how to win..."
When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back. GET MAD!!
