In general ,the harder the tip or ferrule = more cue ball deflection.

Oke, thanks guys.. Seems to be conflicting info as well. Pretty sure he got more deflection with the Elkmaster than the MW, maybe subconsciously he hits it different, maybe it's the softness of the Elk.... We still have no idea what the problem was, but Mike had said it's potentially a dodgy MW tip (no idea as there's no way to tell, this is also a guess) but we're using Elkmaster now so the question should just be an academic one now.
