Bonoman1970, if you used to be a pro but only played Mark Williams once then I guess you weren't on the circuit for long? Did you have any success (e.g. make the televised stages of any tournaments)? Why aren't you a pro any more?

Fair play, you talk the talk, is this just a spot of trolling on can you back it up? I hope you get on the first flight to Canada and let Terry record the match with his HD camera so we can all appreicate your rolls royce cue action...

      itsnoteasy:

When I returned to Canada in 1988 and got a real job (and bought a house with a snooker table in the basement, not a good one) I just couldn't get back to my standard although at that time I had no idea on technique, just step up and hit the ball. Then I got a job offer from the States which brought my take-home pay up by 2-1/2 times and I couldn't refuse.

In Northern Virginia the closest snooker tables were in Washington, DC and they were 5 x 10 with napless blue cloth and balls slightly larger (2-1/8th I think) plus the drive with traffic was around 2hrs so I gave up snooker for the money.

It's even worse as my right eye had always been my stronger eye and was my preferred eye and at that time I never knew anything about sighting and when I came back to Canada in 2005 I virtually couldn't 'see' the potting angle plus I was probably getting down to the shot from the left since I didn't know you were supposed to drop the head straight down. I also had a short jabby backswing and very little follow-through plus all kinds of head movement on both the backswing and delivery, and my elbow was out about 6" to the right and when I check photos of me from Britain my elbow actually hung into my back about one inch.

So everything was different and to top it off I cracked the ferrule on my JP custom made cue and had to shorten it and it never played the same. I was totally fu*ked and had to do SOMETHING...thus Nic Barrow and finally I could see on video and from Nic explaining to me all the things I was doing wrong. Hell, when I learned to play it was pick up a cue, hold it like a hammer and hit the cueball...that was the extent of technique.

I've just had a PM conversation with bonoman, who refuses to tell me his name nor publish it on this string. Based on the PMs I'm beginning to realize bonoman is another one of those kids who like to take the p*ss out of everyone and also thinks he's a really good snooker player, but I doubt he was ever a pro as wouldn't he let us know who he was?

Now, he might be 35 or 38 years old, but mentally I think he's still catching up

He was a pro and is a great great player. He once needed 12 snookers in a cup match we played in final frame and he got them!

I've played Nigel Bond and he doesn't strike me as having a personality like bonoman here (unless, of course, he has been imbibing a little too much tonight?

In fact I think I played Nigel twice and we split if my memory is working. Then again, this was back in the 80's and he wasn't a pro yet but was an up-and-comer.

I'm pretty sure I could take at least one frame from Nigel before he got to 9-0 in a best-of-17. How about it Nigel (if your are bomoman)

Gosh bonoman. If we all knew who you were then we could all respect you just like the 'prof' who I assume is your mirror image?

C'mon, if you're such a good player what is the problem with either letting us know who you are or else what type of titles, both pro and amateur, you've won. Have you ever been English, Welsh, Scots, NI national champion? If so, what years? Have you ever won a string of matches in a pro tournament and made it to the TV stages? Did you ever win a county title? Have you ever won your local handicapped tourney? Have you ever won any type of tournament?

Or tell us which of the good players you've beaten now and again or the odd time?

Be a little more open and stand on whatever reputation you have

Ah no you did not Mr Matt Jones

I have put bonoman1970 & prof147 in a usergroup where they can not interact with the forum without the permission of myself or a moderator until they can give me a reasonable explanation as to their behaviour on the forum tonight, trolling and starting multiply threads of crap will not be tolerated no matter how long you have been on the forum and how many post you have.

                            Thank you ferret.

I googled matt jones snooker (because I'm just nosy I guess) and there was a pro named Matt Jones who played for 2 seasons and reached a ranking high of #388 (he won 5 matches and lost 12) so maybe he was, but he would have to be in his late 30's or 40's now I imagine and that doesn't sound like bonoman1970 or prof147. Maybe that '1970' means he's actually 42yrs old?

If I was really mean spirited I'd post some of the PMs he sent me earlier but I ain't that desperate (yet).

oh boo ... everyone likes a good argument and I don't think I've read bonoman1970 swear on this thread so I personally am not convinced he should be moderated on the basis of this thread alone ...

can't we have a Flame Pit please Ferret? by that, I mean a separate forum with a warning before entering that it's for adults only and completely unmoderated ...

I think a lot of people would enjoy that and it makes it easier for the mods too ... if a thread gets too heated, you can just move it to the Flame Pit or indeed tell people to sort it out in the Pit ...

Terry, well done for keeping your cool and maintaining your dignity when dealing with a troll.

DandyA - FWIW, I'm with ferret on this one. I think a flame pit would only encourage the trolls...I agree with you that initially I found bonoman's "challenge" to be quite an entertaining one, but it can't have been at all entertaining or pleasant for Terry...
