  • Alan Trigg Coaching Session in Moscow

    Hi everybody,

As the title says Alan Trigg is running a one week coaching session in Moscow in two weeks time during which each and every player will have the possibility to have 18 hours of one to one practice with him.

Although it might look as if I'm trying to promote this event, my real purpose is to ask if anyone here heard of Mr. Trigg and perhaps has used his coaching services in the past? it's just that 18 hours is a whole lot of time and I rather spend my time doing something else rather than training with someone who I'm not sure can really help me improve.

    Any comments are welcome

He coaches pro's (well, may be now more mentally :-). He it the one who found Paul Hunter (if I'm not mistaken). 100% he can help ANYBODY. His website www.worldsnookercoaching.com. It's not a commercial. I also would like to visit his training courses, because he is the only british snooker coach in ex-USSR countries as far as I kow (mostly he visits in Ukraine, so take your chance in Moscow).

I know alan very well he is very highly rated and spends 10 months of the year traveling all over the place doing what he loves and by all accounts he's very good not only at coaching but if i am right he has degrees in psychology all that kind of mind stuff

We sat and had lunch together in latvia and been a yorkshire lad it was good to catch up with him, he was coaching everyday over there in between playing too

yes i have had two coaching sessions with Alan, my ever first one was with him he is a very good coach and his knowledge of the game is excellent.

he usually come to the UK in the Summer and coaches at the star snooker academy in Sheffield, he is based in Ukraine i think as this is where his wife is from.

i think 18 hours with Alan would do the world of good to any player, i only had a couple of hours from him and he set me on the right path.

So as things turned out I couldn't join the training session because of work. Luckily Alan was staying a few more days in town during which he agreed to coach me. We practiced 3 hours per day for three days so 9 hours in total, focusing mainly in my technique and a little bit of break building and match play.

The results of practicing with him are instant and I can't say enough about how glad I am about practicing with him. In all my life I had practiced 4-5 times in total with 2 different amateur coaches. One of which was a former Austrian national champion with whom I practiced two times in both all we did was basic stuff giving me some routines to practice, not a word about stance or technique. The second coach is one of the better snooker players in Russia who formerly trained with Terry Griffiths. We practiced 2 or 3 times in all and this time there was more focus on technique, walk in etc'. I must admit he gave me a few tips that really helped me improve my game but it these were only minor improvements I'm afraid. Needless to say both were far far away compared to my training with Alan Trigg.

All I can say is, if you have the chance go for it and book a few hours of practice with him... you won't regret it!! If not with him than try any other professional coach rather than settling for an amateur one, the difference is huge!!!

Anyways better go back to work now. I'll let you know once I improve my match high break... I'm positive it will happen very soon :snooker:
