Respotted black

I sometimes choose to pot the black off its spot from the D, it saves my fannying about playing safe. The thing is, after potting the black the white does sometimes go in-off into the Yellow balk pocket. Is this the natural line, or am I putting side on the cueball

Some shot potting the black from baulk. I think the percentage of doubling the black in would be about the same and it's a safer option that way; you get better control over the pace of both balls.

It doesn't look a natural in-off to me. But at that distance and that thin a cut... anything can happen.

Not a shot to play in matchplay, that's for sure. Even the doubling the full length of the table is not seen much on the pro circuit..I would think the cut is too thin to go in off, so maybe there is some side on your cue ball. This shot is never in my shot practise routines and takes the biscuit even over JT's naughty snooker, I think practising safety off the black would be more beneficial.

Must be a bit of check side on the white. Can't really see any other way. I have tried it and been well away from the yellow pocket playing plain ball

He says he practises the shot and if hit in the right way at the right speed, you're more then likely to leave it safe anyway.

I think you are putting some side on to pot the white. I agree that if you want to go for it then try the double but both are risky.

I was just wondering, as I have potted the last two attempts perfectly (middle of the hole) and then watched the cueball drop. I must say though, it was only a friendly against a mate on both occasions. I have potted the black in tournament play and in league matches though :-) it's a crowd pleaser.

when ive done it i always put righthand side on from green spot and lefthand side from yellow mainly if i miss on way down i hit on the way back got fairly decent success rate of about 40%
