I took up snooker very late in life ! and would be interested in some input from some real oldies ! I love the game and wish I had taken it up earlier in life, I practice on a regular basis and my game has improved, ok ! I know I will never be another Ronnie or Judd but I can now beat some of the YOUNG GUNS at my club and this has done wonders for my ego and I have ceased feeling over the hill, so if there are any older players who feel there is LIFE IN THE OLD DOG love to read some of your views and input.

You know this is one of the main reasons i love snooker as its not age restrictive or ability restrictive in many ways your kids, parents, grandparents, friends can play together and there's not many sports it's easy to do this.
My grandad is 98 now and was still knocking in regular 30 odd breaks till his early 90's, i know some other great old boys who pretend they can't see, then go and knock in a 70 odd break and still playing great snooker so young guns beware ! ;-)

I'm glad to hear some of these stories of knocking em in at a senior age. I've come back regularly to the game after more than 20 years of playing only on holiday at Center Parcs and I'm really keen to improve on my lifelong best break (only 38) which I achieved in my 20s. Can I still improve at 60+? Probably not, but I'd like to get somewhere near my 'best' when I was playing in a poor local amateur league once a week. My best in recent months is 26 but I'll keep trying.

I hope i am not too old, i have ambition to make a ton one day, maybe a bit ambitious especially when you consider my highest break in a match is 29 and in practice 38.
however i have seen some old folk who can really play. it seems a long way for me to reach a good standard especially as i am in my late 40s. one thing is for certain i'll never give up trying

We run a retired league playing on Thursday afternoons. We have nine teams and about 40 players registered, minmum age 55.
Some of us have played in the evening league for many years, some have returned to snooker in their retirement, some have only recently started playing. The standard is variable, the highest break in a season is 40+ but most players would be happy with 20.
The aim is to enjoy playing competitively.
Anybody interested in the Swindon area is welcome to come along to Jesters on a Thursday afternoon
